DOGMA 25

1. All films must be made using consumer-grade materials/tech/smartphones.
2. Scripts and scores alike must be composed by the director, who must also edit their own work.
3. Successive canonical films will be ordained by an iteratively growing panel of judges (the directors of canonical films).
4. Directors must repent for cinematic sins in the credits.
5. All films must be set in the modern day, and documentaries are not allowed. Reach for poetic, ecstatic truth through mistakes, illusions and stylization.
6. Always take the initiative - there is never an excuse not to finish a film.
7. Carry bolt cutters, lockpicks, and matches everywhere. Guerrilla tactics are best.
8. One night in jail is worth the perfect shot - ask forgiveness, not permission.
9. Send out all your dogs and one might return with prey; chance is the lifeblood of cinema.
10. Never wallow in troubles; despair must be kept private and brief.
11. Learn to live with your mistakes - only in randomness can one capture what is too inscrutable to express directly.
12. Take your fate into your own hands; thwart institutional cowardice.
13. Learn to read the inner essence of a landscape.

17. All modes of work exist to produce a single unified aesthetic - never differentiate between modes of creation.
